I’m a freelance visual storyteller. I strive to capture authentic honest moments through a photojournalistic approach to my work, and I love nothing more than witnessing and documenting genuine, spirited human connection.

I was raised in the countryside of japan by my artistic family. I painted with my grandparents, composed music and made my first pinhole camera when I was 8.

When I was 15 my parents gave me my first manual camera. I was so happy I slept with my minolta and brought it everywhere I went. I felt like my camera was helping me to know my friends better during my boarding school years in London when I couldn’t speak fluent English.

After graduating from art colleges in London (University of the Arts London) and in New York (Cooper Union), I made documentaries for Discovery Channel and worked for newspaper in London.

My work has been featured in various magazines and publications including Harpers and Bazaar, New York Times and the Guardian.
